I feel like we kind of had two Christmas's this year: the first one in Michigan, and the second one in Seattle with my entire family. In a way we got the best of both worlds. Being in Michigan leading up to the holidays was a time for us to just be together with our little family. Didn't have a whole lot planned, were able to escape the busyness of Christmas, and spent many nights listening to Christmas music, having dinner together, watching Christmas movies and going on walks. It really was one of the least stressful Christmas's I've had in a long time. Maybe not having a child under 2 had something to do with it :) And Pete's work schedule couldn't have been better. He didn't have to be to work till 8 and was home almost every night for dinner, then was able to take a week of vacation off before Christmas. A few days before leaving for Seattle we cooked up a huge turkey dinner for ourselves... our "Christmas dinner," we called it. Then the next morning woke up and opened all our presents so we wouldn't have to haul them all with us. Except for the few gifts from Santa, of course :) Then it was off to Seattle!
Pete and John picked out this flower that started from a bulb for me when we found out we were having a boy. The timing was perfect, it bloomed a few days before we left. Seriously one of the most beautiful flowers! We might just have to start getting this flower every November so we can enjoy it come Christmastime.

The spread of our yummy Christmas dinner... a dinner that will only be made once or twice a year. It was so fun to cook alongside Pete all afternoon. But I was exhausted by the time we finally sat down to eat. Then had to find the energy to clean everything up.

After everyone was done eating, Pete and I just sat at the table a while watching the kids play and listening to Christmas music. A great moment. Wish I could have sat there all night while the magical cleaning fairies came in and took care of everything :)
