Gingerbread houses

Growing up, my family always made gingerbread houses with graham crackers, each child getting to make his own creation. So we have continued that tradition. We had our friends Danny and Seidi and their kids over to join us this year, had some soup, then went to work.



Dan... started by putting thick globs of frosting on, then wanted to cover it with as much candy as possible


John... saw Dan covering the entire house with candy so had to try that out too... but his is slightly more organized and symmetrical


Joe... I don't know if he actually put any candy on his house. Daddy and Dan helped him out a bit. All Joe wanted to do was eat frosting and candy. He literally sat there the entire time shoveling scoops of frosting in his mouth. We thought for sure he was going to throw up that night (in fact, I almost hoped he would!), but it never came up.


Charlie... put on a few pieces of candy here and there... but also followed Joe's lead


Danny & Seidi... created a Noah's ark with animal crackers getting on board two by two


Me and Pete with our unfinished house. We took a break when our friends left and put the kids to bed... then finished while listening to the latest political debate. Romantic, I know.


The final house! We were pretty happy with how it turned out. A wrap around porch, pillars, the whole bit.
