Dexter Daze

Last weekend was "Dexter Daze," a weekend full of concerts, vendors, kiddie train rides, blow-up toys, parades, pony rides, hay rides, you name it. For living here in Dexter for just a couple months, I have way too much pride in our little town. And last weekend only added to it.

I took the kids downtown on the first day to take a look around. The highlight that morning was definitely the train ride. Joe threw a little fit when we had to get off, he LOVES trains. There's a railroad track probably a half mile away from our home, and whenever he hears the trains whistle he runs to the back door, pure excitement in his eyes, and yells, "TRAIN!" Love it.


Friday night we headed back with our friends, Sadie and Danny, for dinner and a concert. The highlight? The elephant ears we purchased for dessert. Gotta love a gigantic scone with cinnamon sugar sprinkled all over it. Unfortunately Pete had to work late that night. I feel bad when he has to miss out on the fun stuff we do. And obviously it's always more fun when he's around!


Saturday morning was the Dexter parade. By the end we had a big bag full of candy, popsicles, pens, frisbees... I love these small town parades that can still hand out candy! When it was over John said, "this candy's going to last us 27 years!!" It lasted about 27 hours.





We ended with free pony rides and hay rides at Jenny's market, a fresh fruit and vegetable market in town, everything locally grown. It was my first time there and definitely not the last. We bought some warm pumpkin doughnuts that are to DIE for!
