Here's an attempted short summary of the trip: I flew out with the kids at the beginning of August to see my family who was also there. We stayed in Park City and swam, hiked, watched the Olympics and went to the Marcum (extended) family reunion out in Bountiful. My friends Liz, Tiffany and Jessica also came up to Park City for a couple days. With 13 kids ages 6 and under we had quite the troop! Then Pete joined us and we headed up to Bear Lake for a week with his family. Sailing, mini golf, tennis, swimming, playing on the beach, games, raspberry shakes, we did it all. Then it was back to Salt Lake for my nephew Romney's baptism, dinner with friends, our 8th anniversary (!) and an overnighter in Park City, Pete's 30th birthday, a play date with friends, dinner with our dear neighbor Jack, then back to Michigan... phew!

Flying with the 4 kiddos alone... not ideal, but way better than driving for 27 hours. Pete had tucked a note and treat in each of the kids backpacks, they were pretty excited about that. Such a sweet dad. The older 3 were so good on the flight (thankfully!), and Will was a handful. He slept for maybe 10 minutes from the time we got to the airport to the time we got to the Jackson's home, over 8 hours or so. The people around us were stuck listening to a few screaming spells (which are normally rare for him). Enough said. Glad that's over.

I can't believe how big my 4 "little" sibs are! Not so little next to the nephews.
Cousins! Kate, Colt and Paisley joined the kids in Park City for a few days.
The extended Marcum reunion was in Bountiful. We spent the morning/afternoon at a park with blow up slides for the kids, games and food. I can't believe how many there are of us! I wasn't even able to talk to everyone I wanted to.

We finished the reunion at a church with dinner and a celebration of grandma and grandpa's 70th wedding anniversary. 70 years! Amazing.

My friends Tiffany, Jessica and Liz joined us in Park City for a couple days. It was wild. With 13 kids ages 6 and under, we had quite the party. It was so fun to see everyone and for the kids to get to play together again. We went swimming a couple times and were even able to take turns sneaking out to the Outlets. The kids are such cute little friends! And all blondies, what are the odds.
Pete finally arrived a week later! We met up with my family at Cafe Rio for Pete's birthday before we took off to Bear Lake.
It was also Audrey's birthday a few days later. I made her this bracelet.
Bear Lake! What a wonderful week of relaxation, sailing, hanging out on the beach, swimming, tennis and mini golf. All of the Jackson's were able to be there except for Pete's brother Jon who was in North Carolina for work. It was so much fun to catch up with everyone and watch the cousins play together.
Aunts Sarah and Liz made a cute little treasure hunt for the kids that ended with fun gifts hidden in this footrest. Excuse the blurry picture. That's a high quality iPhone camera for ya.

The AMAZING sand castle(s) the kids built over a few days. Katelyn and Nicole (Pete's cousins kids) tagged along with the Jackson cousins for the week.
Uncle James got the kids this little toy that you fill with water and sand and run ships through. They loved it! We were even able to squeeze it in our bag and bring it home with us.

After a somewhat chaotic couple days up in Park City with all our kids, my friends and I decided to go to dinner with just us.

Took the kids to Temple Square our last Sunday. Here's our one attempt at a family picture and the guy taking the picture completely left Pete out. Not exactly sure how someone could do that. Oh well. Dan and Joe were also really happy, as you can see. It was like pulling teeth just to have them turn around and look at the camera.
For our 8th anniversary, Pete and and I left the kids with Grandma and Grandpa and went up to Park City for the night. Will was our third wheel. We of course took a few pictures of him and none of us. Our marriage really is more important, babies are just much more fun to take pictures of. And just look at that cute body! Will is the sweetest little baby, it was fun to have some one on one time with him. It was also fun to be with Pete :) ... we brought up the John Adams series and watched a couple of those (which I just loved), went for a run, went for a swim, and made a yummy breakfast. It has been 8 wonderful years. I'm living the dream with the man of my dreams.
When we got back from Park City we celebrated Pete's 30th birthday. 30 years! We just had dinner with his fam... quiche, his favorite... had cake and ice cream and opened presents. I like how this cake looks like it's on fire. The kids helped me right a "30" using the candles.
We gave Pete 30 presents for 30 years... may have been better to do this at home, his poor family had to sit through it all

About 10 minutes before we landed Dan fell asleep. And Will slept for about 2 hours of the ride! The way home was a breeze, especially with Pete with us.

I always have mixed emotions coming home after a trip, but it really was good to get home. Not leaving family and friends, but good to get back to our own space and a little more structure.
