Pete didn't have work this week, so we took advantage of his time off and went on a little trip out to Lake Michigan. It was BEAUTIFUL! I have been pleasantly surprised by Michigan. I had no idea there would be so many fun things to do and see here. Lake Michigan borders the entire west side of Michigan and is lined with sandy beaches from top to bottom. The wind picks up and makes waves and you feel like you're right on the ocean! Except it's a fresh water lake, so you don't end up with salt all over your body.
We stayed at Michillinda Lodge in Whitehall. It was right on the beach, had a nice clean swimming pool, miniature golf, tennis courts, shuffle board, a playground, and free breakfast. Our room was essentially broken up into 3 rooms with a king bed, queen bed, and pull out twin. All for just $120/night! Perfect for our little family. And a lot of schools weren't out yet, so we literally had the entire thing to ourselves. We might have to do a repeat next year.
Our check-in time wasn't until 3, so we first stopped in Muskegon to visit the USS Silversides Museum and tour the WWII submarine. The cost wasn't cheap ($15/ticket for me and Pete), but it was SO worth it. It was amazing to see an actual WWII submarine. And the kids loved it as well.
Then it was off to the beach! We went to Muskegon State Park all afternoon. There's nothing better than the beach, I think the kids could have been happy there forever.

This wasn't set up, the kids were walking back to the car holding hands the entire way and laughing up a storm. They can be the cutest little brothers, I had to capture this.
That night we stopped at a little Burger Joint in Montague, a little town near our hotel.
And then it was down to the beach again! These were the steps from our hotel that you took to get to the little private beach.

This post makes me so excited for our little camping trip, Lake Michigan is like having an Ocean so close! It looks like a great little trip you had there.
p.s you already look back to your regular size... in otherwords you look amazing!
