The animal game

We were playing the animal game on the way home from church yesterday, and the kids, as usual, were cracking us up. We seriously couldn't stop laughing! Here's how a couple of our rounds went:

It was Dan's turn to pick an animal. (Note that Daniel is still learning how to play... we're still wondering whether he actually picks an animal in his head or if he randomly says yes or no to our questions until he finally says "yes!")
Pete: "Does this animal live on a farm?"
Dan: "No."
John: "Does it swim?"
Dan: "Yes!"
Jess: "Is it a turtle?"
Dan: "No."
John: "Is it a dolphin?"
Pete: "Does this animal only live in the water?"
Dan: "Yes."
Everyone: "Is it an octopus?... A shark?... A whale?... A lobster?... A fish?..."
Dan: "No... no... no... no... no."
Pete: "Is it a seal?"
Dan: "No, it ONLY lives in the water."
—Thinking—
Jess: "We might need a little clue."
Dan: "It starts with a B."
John: "Wow! This is a really hard one!"
Me and Pete thinking: "This is hard only because he hasn't really chosen an animal."
—After more thinking—
Pete: "Is it a beluga whale?"
Dan: "Yes! A beluga whale! You got it!"
Right.

And then it was my turn to think of an animal.
John: "Does it live on the land?"
Jess: "Yes."
John: "Does it live on a farm?"
Jess: "No."
Dan: "Does it live in the forest?"
Jess: "No."
John: "Can it fly?"
Jess: "Yes!"
... after many more questions and no right guesses...
Jess: "I'll give you a clue... this bird likes to stand on one skinny, long leg."
—no response—
Jess: "And it has a curved neck... and is pink."
—still no response—
Pete tries to help: "It starts with an F."
—nothing—
Pete: "It starts with a Fla..."
—pause—
Pete: "And it ends with go..."
Jess: "And it rhymes with ingo."
—another pause—
John finally pipes up: "I know! It's a CRANE!"
