Seattle! (beware: picture overload)

A couple months ago my family moved up to Bainbridge Island, just across from Seattle. And if you're looking on the bright side of things? We now have a cool new place to visit and explore! (I won't mention that we no longer get to look forward to the bi-weekly visits... oh wait, I just did) It was fun in a way being the "out-of-state" visitors. My dad cooked a few of his gourmet meals, Pete and I got to break away from the kids for a whole day and head into Seattle, and we got to hang out with my fam night and day for 5 days. This blog is the way I document/journal things going on in our lives, so I included a lot. If you're going to try to look through this post, you might want to grab a snack. Because it could take a while!

The trip started with a 15 hour drive. Actually not as bad as I expected, but don't know if we'll be doing again : ) Things started getting very green and pretty about an hour or two outside of Seattle. And then in true Seattle fashion, it started pouring as soon as we entered the city.


We drove onto a ferry that would take us over to the island, put on the raincoats (yes, we came prepared), and ventured up to the top deck to get the full experience.


After a night with intense wind and rain, we woke up to this... absolutely beautiful!





Pete and I head in to Seattle for the day for an interview for a residency program at the University of Washington (Pete interviewed, I explored the city... oh, and took a 2 hour nap in the car), while the kids stay with Grandma and Grandpa.

We took a trip into the heart of Poulsbo one afternoon, stopped at the fresh market, saw all the sailboats, went in to the small-town bookstore, and got a doughnut from the bakery. They have such fun little shops there!





Pete thought it would be fun to go for a dip in the salty, freezing water. Tried to get me to join him, but no way.

Rented a small boat in Poulsbo to tour the area... but didn't get very far with a boat that moved at about 5 miles/hr at top speed. Still a fun way to see all the homes on the water.

And last but not least, the Aquarium! Followed by a quick bite to eat at Pike's Place Market before starting the 15 hour trek back to Salt Lake. Thanks Mom and Dad for such a fun trip! We miss you already!
