Birthday boy!

John is now the big 4-year old! For some reason 4 sounds a heck of a lot older than 3. And now we can say that we have 3 kids 4 and under... it doesn't sound quite as crazy as 3 kids 3 and under : ) The birthday celebration went on for a few days, as usual, celebrating with our own little family, my family, Pete's family, and John's friends. And now he is set with new toys that should last him the whole year.

The day started out with wheat pancakes and cinnamon syrup. What more can a little boy want.

John enjoyed swimming with Dan in his new pool from Grandma and Grandpa Marcum. Much needed for these hot summer days. Especially when you're swamp cooler-cooled house won't get below 80 degrees some days.

John shares a birthday with his Grandpa John, so we took a trip with the Jackson clan to the Bees Game. Always a highlight of our summer, the kids love it.

And last but not least, we had a little friend/cousin party. And I'll tell you, it was not easy to get all the kids to sit on those steps and stay there for a picture! But I was finally successful.

We sure love you John! I don't think we could ask for a better oldest child. He is so good to his younger brothers and so helpful around the house. He loves to wrestle with his dad, work in the yard with dad, read books with dad... pretty much anything with his dad. He also LOVES board games, likes to color, cut paper out, glue things together (any kind of little art project), watch movies, swimming, hiking, and the park. I guess he's pretty easy to please!
